Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) Assessments

BAL assessments may be required for projects in Bushfire Prone Areas.

The Australian Standard AS3959:2018, Construction of buildings in bushfire prone areas, specifies requirements in order to improve the resistance of buildings to bushfire attack from burning embers, radiant heat, flame contact and combinations of these three attack forms.

Bushfire Management Plans & Statements

For properties under a Bushfire Management Overlay (BMO), applications for planning or building permits may require a Bushfire Management Plan and Statement.

There are 4 application pathways for planning permits in the BMO, these are:

Pathway 1: Single dwellings in existing settlements

Pathway 2: All other buildings and works

Before you begin a project have one of our consultants come and assess your property and provide you with a written report advising you on access, water supply, defendable space and classified vegetation requirements.
